We've invited the Weaver family to be our guests this month on our blog. Please take a moment to read about God's call to them as a family for missionary work and consider supporting them directly http://globalweaver.wordpress.com/donate/ or through your purchase during the month of November. We will be donating 10% of our November sales to support the Weaver family.
We are the Weaver family and we are preparing to enter full time mission work with Wycliffe Bible Translators.
Jess felt called into missions as a very young child “I remember asking my mom about the hungry children from Africa that I would see on TV. I was never really interested in sponsoring them, however I would often tell my mom that we should go there, and take care of them.” At the time, I’m sure she thought it would pass that day or the next, and the following week I would claim I wanted to be a ballerina instead of a missionary….but that was the start of God’s call on my life into missions.
As a teen, Nate felt God’s calling to work in crosscultural ministry. A few years later, he had the opportunity to go on a life changing Missions Trip to Honduras. Nate learned that no matter where God has called you to, you are there for a reason and for His purpose. The passion to do the Lord’s work overseas was confirmed and has been a pursuit ever since.
The Vision of Wycliffe is to reach all remaining heart languages and begin their translations by the year 2025. As you can see according to this chart, our goal is completely unattainable without the hand of God leading and directing us. With such a huge mountain in front of us, it takes all kinds of people to see this goal accomplished. While Nate and I will not initially be the ones doing the translation, we are excited to be a part of the support team that enables translation to happen. If you’ve ever had a goal that felt larger than yourself, you’ll know like we do that a team who lifts you up and takes some of the weight off can make the difference between success and failure. We are honored to be part of this team and we take our responsibility to assist in translation of God’s Word very seriously.
Having had the Word of God in his life, Nate knows and understand the importance of how it can change us. He has a passion to see all people have the opportunity to be changed and spoken to through God’s word. Nate is excited to be apart of Wycliffe”s Vision 2025 and assisting in seeing it accomplished.
Jess believes that good mentoring can make or break your experience overseas. It has always been on her heart to mentor others and she is so excited to be given the chance to mentor and encourage short term volunteers joining the Wycliffe Ministry. She hopes to encourage, challenge and stretch those in her care, and is praying that God will use her to increase the number of people that will be committed to translating the Word of God in the world.
We are so excited to be making this move at this time with our family, and we can’t wait to see what God will do in and through our family on this journey! http://globalweaver.wordpress.com/
